Tenor is the most popular size in the Noah range, and it’s where you’ll find our widest choice of models. Some are traditional. Others have unusual shapes, a more compact body or distinctive design features. There’s plenty to explore.
Every Noah tenor ukulele is handcrafted by Mr Anh, who has more than 30 years of experience making ukuleles. All our instruments are made from solid wood and carefully set up before dispatch.
Why choose a tenor ukulele?
A tenor ukulele is about 26 inches (66 cm) long, with a scale length of around 17 inches (43 cm). It’s larger than a soprano or concert ukulele. That means more room between the frets and the potential for a fuller, more resonant sound.
Tenors use the same GCEA tuning as soprano and concert ukuleles. They suit both strumming and fingerpicking. The extra fretboard space is also welcome if smaller ukuleles feel a little cramped.
Noah tenor ukulele models
The Tenor X is our feature-packed tenor, with a design that goes well beyond the traditional ukulele. It features a Florentine cutaway for easier access to the upper frets, a comfortable bevelled edge, and a side soundhole that directs more of the sound towards the player. Its uniquely shaped, asymmetrical pin bridge adds another distinctive design touch. Made from Indian rosewood and spruce, it’s an instrument for players who appreciate thoughtful design as much as great sound.
Want the biggest sound in the Noah tenor range? The Super Tenor has a spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Its body is larger and deeper than a conventional tenor, while the neck keeps the familiar tenor scale. The extra body volume gives a fuller, more substantial sound.
This model uses the same Indian rosewood and spruce combination as the Tenor X, giving it a similar tonal character without the additional design features. It’s worth considering if sound is your priority and you’d rather keep the price down.
A pineapple-shaped body gives this tenor a look all its own. It pairs a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, like the Super Tenor. You get a distinctive shape and a great sound at a very fair price.
The Baby Tenor has a smaller, shallower body, closer to concert size, with a full tenor-scale neck. It’s compact, with a crisp, snappy tone, and you still get the roomy fretboard of a tenor. It’s a good choice if you want tenor playability without a full-size body.
