It’s time for a short post to let ukulele players know about the latest addition to the Noah range.
Introducing the Noah Delta Concert – a new ukulele added to the Noah range in 2024! It’s been a couple of years since I added a concert to the Noah range, so thought it was time for something new at that scale. The reason behind the name is that I really wanted a model that has a name which gives a nod to Vietnam and the area in which they are made. The Mekong Delta is such an important part of Vietnamese life and culture, and is not far from where I lived and not far from where Mr Anh, head luthier, lives. Also, the boat trip I took down through the Mekong Delta in my first weeks after arriving in Vietnam is still one of the best things I’ve ever done, and so with all of that considered, Delta, felt like a good choice!
For this model, we were aiming for something with fairly understated looks (so no abalone!), and just let the woods be the main event. This one has a more rounded, curvier double bout than anything we’ve made up until now. Of the other concerts in the Noah range, only 1 has friction tuners, so we decided to go with frictions on this one and I think they work really well.
I really liked the effect of the side soundhole on the Tenor X, so we’ve replicated it here on this one. Another difference from other Noahs is the lack of position markers on the frets. I quite like the appearance of a blank fretboard and hope that people will agree that side ones are sufficient!
It was reviewed in September 2024 on Got A Ukulele, and received an overall score of 9.3 out of 10. I was so pleased that it received such a high rating – this is the highest score of any Noah which has been reviewed!
‘I said earlier that each Noah uke I see gets better and better and it’s clear that Mr Anh is constantly upping his game. This is the right up there with the best i’ve seen from Noah and I love the developments that have been employed. Great looks, great build, great sound, great price. This is a much liked brand now and for good reason – they listen and improve all the time. This one is a delight. Highly recommended! .
