I have had a monkeypod tenor for the last 18 months and I would thoroughly recommend it, it lends itself to any type of music be it strumming or fingerpicking, it is a well made instrument, and very good value, so much so that I have just purchased a mahogany soprano, which again is a very well made instrument and for its size has a good all round tone capable of holding its own in a crowd, I don’t think you will be disappointed if you purchase any of the noah range, these are not factory made, so no two will look alike, and in this price range you can’t go wrong.

First impressions … so vibrant, punchy and right there !
BTW, with its slightly wider nut I found my chord changes so much easier and clearer.
I purchased this ukulele on the strength of two reviews; Baz at gotaukulele.com and Matt Hicks AKA Lester T. Web, I am certainly not disappointed.

I never tried the previous iteration of this soprano, but this current version is excellent: the maple neck is smooth and comfortable, transitioning into that lovely headstock in a way that leaves plenty of room for the fretting hand; the friction pegs turn effortlessly; setup is absolutely spot-on; and the whole thing is just so delightful to play that I’ve scarcely set it aside since it arrived. Personally, I would prefer that a strap button was not standard on a soprano, but that’s my taste (I removed it and covered the hole with a small screw-hole cap for furniture: it looks fine). Likewise, I chose the Martin M600 strings and I think they’re a bit too bright for this instrument, which is honestly quite bright for a mahogany uke anyway, making the tone rather brittle, but that too was a very easy fix and not a fault of the instrument, just something to consider when you order. In good conscience I can’t give it five stars, though I would like to, as some people may be rather more concerned about the cosmetic flaws than I am: the pattern of the herringbone soundhole rosette is missing its “teeth” in one section, and overlaps awkwardly at the end which I suspect should have been hidden under the fretboard; the headstock isn’t *quite* symmetrical, the heel cap similarly as well as not being properly rounded; and the purfling has a few spots where the black stripe looks almost smudged and completely obscures the white. It’s still a lovely instrument and I would absolutely buy it again even if I knew it would come with these visual flaws (and they are essentially visual: structurally the ukulele is excellently made), but I do think that they are things that could be improved. Overall, however, it’s a terrific soprano and one I would highly recommend, easily outclassing most offerings at the price.
