Although Noah Ukuleles is an online shop with no physical store, one of the things I love most about what I do is getting out on the road and meeting the wonderful players who bring my instruments to life.
There’s nothing quite like seeing someone strum a Noah ukulele for the first time — that moment when they feel the resonance, hear the tone, and connect with it instantly. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to take what I like to call “the travelling ukulele shop” on tour, giving players across the UK the chance to see, hold, and play these handmade instruments in person.
🌟 Meeting Players Across the UK
Over the past few months, I’ve been fortunate to visit several fantastic ukulele groups — including Uckfield, Henfield, Southampton, and most recently, the brilliant Quo Ukulele Group in Quorn.
It’s always a pleasure to meet so many friendly faces and to share stories about their musical journeys. At Quorn, it was especially heartwarming to see so many members already playing their own Noah ukes! The group even performed together after introducing their instruments, showing off the incredible variety of sounds and styles these instruments can produce.
Moments like that really remind me why I started a handmade ukulele business in the first place — to connect people through music, craftsmanship, and joy.
🪶 What a “Travelling Ukulele Shop” Visit Looks Like
When I visit a group or event, I like to bring along a selection of ukuleles from across the Noah range — different sizes, woods, and finishes — so players can try them side by side.
I’ll often set up a small display so everyone can browse, play, and ask questions. It’s always informal and relaxed — a chance to have a chat about what makes each instrument unique, or to compare the sound of monkeypod wood versus rosewood, spruce or mahogany.
Many players tell me it’s their first time hearing the difference between tonewoods in person — and that alone can make all the difference when choosing a ukulele that truly suits them. It’s also a great way to meet fellow enthusiasts, swap playing tips, and of course, share a few songs together.
🎉 Upcoming Visits and Events
I’m really excited to be heading to the Newbury Ukulele Town Strummers this Saturday for their 10-year celebration. It’s always amazing to see the community spirit that surrounds ukulele music, and this promises to be a great event with plenty of strumming, singing, and laughter.
Beyond that, the calendar for next year is already starting to fill up, with bookings for various ukulele festivals and group visits across the country. I’ll be sharing updates on upcoming events soon — so keep an eye on the Noah Ukuleles blog or follow us on social media to find out where the travelling ukulele shop will be stopping next!
🫶 Why I Love Meeting Players in Person
Building ukuleles is a very personal process — each one is handcrafted, shaped, and finished by hand. But the real magic happens when a player connects with it. That’s why I believe it’s so important to give people a chance to try them in person, especially when so many of us shop online.
These visits are also an opportunity for me to get valuable feedback. Hearing what players love (and what they’d like to see more of) helps me to keep improving and refining the design of every instrument we make.
🎶 Want a Visit from Noah Ukuleles?
If you’re part of a ukulele group or you’re organising a festival or event, I’d love to come along! Whether it’s a small club meet-up or a large celebration, the travelling ukulele shop can bring a selection of Noah ukes for players to try, compare, and enjoy.
It’s a great way to bring something new and exciting to your group — and who knows, you might even discover your next favourite instrument.
To arrange a visit or find out more, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
🌺 Wrapping Up
Being an online-only business doesn’t mean staying behind a screen. For me, it’s all about connection — and the best way to connect is face-to-face, ukulele in hand.
So, if you spot the travelling ukulele shop heading to an event near you, come say hello, strum a few chords, and see what makes a Noah ukulele so special. I can’t wait to meet even more of you on the road!
All the best
Matt
