As some of you might already know, Ben Rouse is one of my favourite ukulele artists out there. A while back I stumbled upon his incredible cover of the Led Zeppelin classic – Immigrant Song – and was blown away by both the technique and energy that goes into his playing. After meeting at a Uke event, I asked him to cast his eye over my Noah ukuleles – and thankfully he was very impressed! Since then, he’s made some great videos with the Noah Mahogany Series – including this Biffy Clyro cover which is my favourite and really showcases his incredible strumming technique.
Earlier this year, Ben released a solo ukulele album entitled Love of Rin (with some songs recorded on the Noah Mahogany Series!). It’s a fantastic album and has a mixture of originals as well as arrangements of well-known songs. If you’re a fan of solo ukulele music, then you really need to hear this – and I’d also highly recommend you try to catch one of his live performances.
I’ve recently added a new model to the Noah range – the Noah Rosewood / Spruce Series. It’s going to be added to my online shop very soon, though they went down a storm at all of the summer festivals so I envisage it becoming sold out very quickly. Here is Ben (pictured above) using the tenor at a radio session he did in August.
